When Required
IRCC may request medical exam if: health issues noted on application, no recent health history, traveling from high-risk disease area. Most applicants don't need one.
What's Tested
Blood tests, chest X-ray, general physical. They're checking for communicable diseases (TB, HIV, etc.) that might make you inadmissible. Costs $300-500 USD.
If Results Are Positive
Communicable disease doesn't automatically reject application. IRCC considers treatment, current status, risk level. Many people with managed conditions are approved.
