What Counts as Fraud

Lying about: criminal history, residency, income, identity, family relationships. These are fraudulent misrepresentations.

Consequences

Application rejected. Banned from reapplying (typically 5 years). If discovered after citizenship granted: citizenship revoked. Criminal charges possible.

IRCC Investigation

They cross-reference: employment records, travel documents, police records, tax records. If inconsistencies found: they investigate.

Prevention

Be honest. If uncertain about something: consult lawyer before applying.
